To keep your jewellery looking its best, I recommend the following
Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes, oils, cleaning products and abrasives
Using a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water can remove build-up of dirt/discolouration.
Use a hairdryer on a low setting to dry and avoid water marks on your jewellery.
Sterling Silver Care
Sterling silver is vulnerable to humidity & pH levels and naturally tarnishes over time.
Wearing your jewellery is the best way to avoid tarnishing on silver.
Store unworn jewellery in a cool dry place in the box.
Buff with a silver polishing cloth as needed. Take special care with any non-silver elements or intentionally oxidised finishes.
Silver dip is an easy and efficient way of removing tarnish. This can be bought online or from hardware stores. Be mindful of any hollow forms.
If you find your item of silver jewellery blackens when you first wear it, follow the above method of cleaning. The silver may be reacting to a cosmetic, your pH level or even your diet, but it usually fades with time.
Finishes & Textures
Finishes and textures can degrade over time, simply due to everyday wear. This is more applicable to rings and bangles, or any piece that is rubbed whilst being worn.
Frosted or velveted finishes may become shinier with wear and polished items can become slightly duller with time.
Oxidised black finishes wear off or fade over time.

Vermeil & Gold Plating
What is Vermeil? Vermeil is a technique where a layer of gold is applied to sterling silver to create pieces or components which look as though they are made from solid gold without the hefty price tag! A thick layer of gold is adhered over the silver. To be considered vermeil, it must be a minimum of 2.5 micron thick. This is 5x thicker than the average minimum for gold plated jewellery. For jewellery that need to be extra durable, such as bangles and rings, I increase the thickness to 4 microns.
What is gold plating? Gold plating is very similar to Vermeil, but it is not usually as thick and often on a base metal instead of sterling silver. This method is used on some pieces with brass components or even on some whole pieces such as whole brass bangles, although I still apply it at 4microns thick for these high wear items. The description of the item will clearly state which method has been used and which metal the gold is plated on top of.
