What's New? ... Jewellery
NEW APPROACH, NEW JEWELLERY,
If you’ve been following me for a while, you might have noticed I haven’t been very… present lately. And not just because I spent three months (instead of three weeks!) building the new website.
I’ve been away from the bench for much longer than planned due to some health issues —but thankfully, I’m better than ever and eager to leave that chapter in the past. And while the time away from the bench was necessary for my physical health, it also gave me the space to rethink what I’m doing with DeeLyn Design.
Being a one-person, do-everything business means I’m always stretched for time. And the thing that’s suffered most? Making jewellery—the thing I love most.
So, going forward, I’m cutting out everything that slows me down and focusing on what really matters: creating new work. Here’s what’s changing:
1. No More Big Collection Launches
Releasing full collections at once takes way too much time (photography, launches, promo—the whole thing). Instead, I’m setting a goal of three new pieces per month. They might follow a theme, or they might be completely different—whatever feels right in the moment.
2. Taking Requests!
Want to see more of something? Tell me! If there’s a design or style you love, I’ll try to work it into my list. (One of my favourite clients recently suggested turning an earring into a brooch—so brooch month will be one of the first to look out for!)
3. Less Modelled Photography (For Now)
I know seeing jewellery on a person is important for scale and fit. While I’m figuring out a new way to show this, just ask! I’m happy to snap a quick photo on me if it helps.
4. Experimenting with Materials
Silver and gold prices have skyrocketed (and those new tariffs won’t help). To keep things accessible, I’ll be playing with non-precious materials alongside my usual metals—because everyone should be able to wear art.
5. More Made-to-Order Pieces
From now on, new designs will be released with only one piece available upfront. If you love it, you can order it and it's yours! If you miss out on the first then the order will be a pre-order basis. Of course, if a design proves popular, I’ll make sure to restock it regularly.
So, that’s the plan! More making, less admin, and a whole lot of creativity. Stay tuned for the first three pieces of this new approach—coming soon!
